Blogs
A blog is an online publication written by a single individual or group of individuals that presents discussion of topics relevant to that person or group. Blog entries usually post to the blog in reverse chronological order, with the latest post leading the page. Blog writers can design their own blogs and post for free, or they can post on group sites if they belong to that group. Blog entries are not subject to the rules that pertain to academic journals or Wikipedia, as they are the words of that specific author and not a representation of the group as a whole.
Blogs range from personal to academic, and can cover any spectrum of political and social topics. Although they can look very professional, it is important to very the information posted on blogs with other sources, as blogs are not peer-reviewed.
Most academic writers would never cite a blog as a source; however, many academics write very ethical and well-researched blogs. As with any source, the reader must read with a discerning eye to analyze whether or not that source could be deemed as reliable.
